I work in the banking service industry, where I have responsibilities as Executive Director, managing the entire connectivity services offered by our group to our clients. In my day-to-day operations, I manage and lead several teams located throughout Europe and the United States.  I am constantly challenged in situations which require sharp negotiation skills, presence of mind and a ‘whole-brain’ / goal-oriented attitude.

I started practicing Tae Soo Do® in January 2014, in Luxembourg. The study of this art requires great levels of discipline, focus, commitment and resilience. Since I started my practice, my life has changed in many ways. I feel more self-confident, committed and determined in all I do. I feel that my ability to ‘read’ the situation and apply the appropriate response has improved greatly.

" Mindfulness cannot be a sporadic exercise, but it is a way of living."

—  From our Grandmaster Taejoon Lee

After almost four years of practice I obtained the Tae Soo Do® black belt in June 2017 and I have embraced the challenges of teaching this beautiful art. Teaching gives me the unique opportunity of transforming the students’ lives, while at the same time it pushes me to always improve.

I am working in the financial services industry within the risk management department. In my role, I am required to have an adequate level of organization, ability to effectively analyze data, and at the same time possess a good set of soft skills to manage projects and initiatives carried out by several departments worldwide.

I started the Tae Soo Do® program in November 2015, inspired by its broad curriculum and traditional values and I am currently an Assistant Instructor for the Hwa Rang Do® & Tae Soo Do® Club Luxembourg. The practice of Hwa Rang Do® has changed my life and among the many benefits there is one that never stops surprising me. While in the past I have always been afraid of discovering my limits, now I see them as an opportunity to grow. Everything that seemed impossible before has now become a goal that can be achieved through commitment, persistence, and hard work. Through Hwa Rang Do® I was able to change my perception of the way I see myself, to believe that I have the power within me by the grace of God to face and overcome any challenges that life brings.

I hope that through my support of the club by teaching Tae Soo Do®, I could transfer this perspective and all the energy that the training gives to empower other people. Hwa Rang Do® is a big family that I love to be part of and I would recommend it to everyone, as evidenced by my wife training with me, who is also an Assistant Instructor, Sabina de Paris.

As a qualified actuary, I am working in the risk management department for a company providing insurance services. My activities concern measuring and modeling insurance data as well as creating business relationships with several stakeholders. Being organized, goal oriented and able to deal effectively with challenges are crucial skills in my position everyday.

The most significant improvement was in my self-confidence, which was one of my biggest challenges. I have always been shy and insecure, afraid of making mistakes, and I didn't enjoy recognition of my positive achievements. Thanks to the practice of Hwa Rang Do®, I became more aware of my potentials and most importantly, developed strong determination in the things I want to accomplish in my life.

I am currently an Assistant Instructor for the Hwa Rang Do® & Tae Soo Do® Club Luxembourg and for me teaching has been an amazing experience as well as being a great challenge: it is a way for me to help other people, influencing positively their lives with the values of Hwa Rang Do®. I am truly honored to be a part of the Teuk Gong Team (Special Team of Instructors) and to be entrusted with the responsibility of furthering my fellow students in the ways of the Flowering Knights (Hwa Rang Do).

Living my life with depression, insecurities, fears, and obesity in the past, I decided to make a change to turn my life around. That's when I joined Hwa Rang Do & Tae Soo Do Club Luxembourg in December 2016.  I have been practicing Tae Soo Do for the past two years and have made tremendous changes mentally and physically. I lost over 20kg and I have gained much more confidence in myself, which has positively impacted all areas of my life.

Grandmaster Taejoon Lee through Hwa Rang Do has taught me that only by facing up to my fears and challenges, being accountable for all of my actions whether good or bad, that I can truly become stronger, empowered, believing in myself that I can overcome, prevail no matter what the obstacle.

Working as an educator with children, I teach the children how to better interact with each other, to encourage them to make responsible choices, to enhance them intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically, becoming more well-rounded. As a Teuk Gong Team Member (Team of Assistant Instructors), it has helped me to practice what I preach and become a better role-model for our students in the club, as well as for the children at my work.

My goal is to help and empower our students and people to better themselves with this beautiful traditional Korean Art.

I work in the Securities Services Industry, dealing on a daily basis with many European customers. My role requires me to be able to communicate effectively and find solutions to complicated situations. I am also a part-time professional photographer, mainly concentrating on family portraits. In order to produce the best results, I have to be able to connect well with my customers, understand their needs, and adapt to what can be a fast-changing situation, while remaining calm yet professional.

I began practicing Tae Soo Do® in July 2016, at the age of 46, having never practiced a martial art before in my life. It is the most challenging and rewarding experience, which is not just about learning the physical practice, but also constantly teaches me about myself, other people and the world in which we live. It is giving me the tools, even being in my 50s, to better face the challenges in my daily life, to grow and most importantly to overcome my weaknesses and fears. Although I can deal with work and personal problems as they arise, not being very physical I was very timid and intimated by physical challenges, which also limited me from venturing out of my comfort zone. However, I have come to realize that I am much stronger than I originally thought and my fears in the beginning were unfounded. Through Grandmaster Taejoon Lee’s teachings and the help of his senior instructors, I have become more self-confident and empowered to not allow my fears and negative thoughts to overwhelm me emotionally, allowing me to maintain a clear focused mind, learning the most valuable lesson - that mind over matter is key in any situation.

I had the honor of being invited to become an Assistant Instructor (TGT) in 2019 and this role is allowing me to share my experiences with other students and to help them in turn to overcome their own challenges. Teaching, both children and adults, is a big responsibility but to be involved in helping them evolve and improve is a very inspiring and humbling experience.

I work in the financial industry as a Fund Controller. My day-to-day work requires being detail oriented and having a problem-solving mindset while juggling many responsibilities at once. In order to cope with multiple challenging situations, happening quite often almost simultaneously, I need to remain calm and stay focused.

I have been practicing many different martial art styles since I was a little child, but I have never found the one that I would fully identify myself with. When I moved to Luxembourg in 2018, I decided to start practicing Tae Soo Do®, which I have never heard of before. At the very beginning of my Tae Soo Do journey, being confident of my skills having trained for many years, I was self-centered, conceited, and arrogant, which I did not truly realize until I witnessed the level of commitment to perfection demonstrated by Grandmaster Taejoon Lee and his instructors. I was humbled to say the least, but furthermore I have learned that humility is the core of Hwa Rang Do’s training, which we must strive by mindfully practicing it each day as Grandmaster Lee says:

“A Hwarang must be strong without force, beautiful without effort.”

I started to understand how valuable this art and Grandmaster's teachings are. Today, for me, practicing Tae Soo Do® and Hwa Rang Do® has become a never-ending journey towards self-betterment, through continuous commitment to embrace the challenges and new struggles daily. More importantly, in the past I was concerned about improving myself and now I have come to realize that self-improvement has no value unless you can share with others. I'm convinced that after many years of searching for the best martial art style, I have finally found not only an effective martial art with a vast curriculum, but also a beautiful way of life as a Hwarang, which I'd like to become one day, so that I may also share with the next generation!
